There are only two factors that make us not to have any feelings, any thoughts about the divine. What are those two points? One, he covers lakhs and lakhs

of his own mistakes. The second, he points out little mistakes in others. These two are responsible for keeping away from thoughts around the divinity.

Embodiments of divine atma!

Human life is valuable, sacred, noble and has to be lived. Not only the development of the body, there is also the manifestation of the intellect that follows. Human life is highly valuable, but his life span - longevity - is short. Within this limited span of life time, he should demonstrate to the world the value of this life, making use of his senses, under control, and their capacities as well. The senses have got to be under control, the mind has got to be controlled, then the human life will be full and ideal.

Man will be able to accomplish, will be able to achieve the three important points. One, sense control, two, control of the mind, and three, the strength of the physique, or the body. If he runs short of one of these three, man will not be able to accomplish his own objectives. Man should make an effort to show the value of all the potentialities and capacities to the world, by making best use of them within this gifted lifetime. Man forgets the limited lifespan, he allows all his senses and values to go. He is himself put to restlessness, and the society also put to restlessness.

Mind is like a water bubble. In such a short lifespan, when, what, how is going to happen, we cannot decide. Though it is said, we will live for a hundred years, but we should not believe that statement. Childhood, or youth, or old age, when one is going to leave, one can't say. When he will leave his life, where, either in the, the town, or in the forest, or in water it cannot be said. Death is certain.

If he is really intelligent, he should know himself in the lifetime. He forgets all this. That momentary life - he relies on physical, mundane, ephemeral, transient power and pelf. It is all the foolishness of the mind. The significance of human life is to fully demonstrate to the world the divinity within him and be an ideal. To know one's own self is the very purpose of life.

The sweet juice of the fruit, is it tasted by the tree? The nectar of the flower, does the creeper enjoy? The detachment of the books, do the books realize it? If they got an empty brain, you can stuff anything there. That brain which is stuffed with all nonsense, would it ever be empty? Without being empty, can you fill it up with any wisdom?

Man has forgotten his ideals. He is not able to understand, experience the divinity within, because he is carried away by the world - the physical, secular world. So, human life has got in it the divinity and is certainly not without the divinity. Human being, manava, he is not new. Ma, 'no'. What, what is 'no' here? Nava: new. You have been here over several births. But he is not able to understand his nature. What is the use by having so many births? He has to know himself. Every human being should have inner vision and inquiry, should be able to find out his own mistakes and criticize himself. But he is not making an effort to find out his own mistakes.

All the time like an animal he has got external outlooks. He is making effort to listen to the news. What is happening around the world? What, when, why? But man is not understanding the nuisance coming out of him. He has to make an effort to know his own self. Then the human life, purpose is realized. The entire Universe is contained within the man. If he is happy the entire Universe will be happy, but if he grieves, the Universe will not grieve. So, he has to make an effort to know his own self. Then only the purpose of life is realized.

The chariot without the wheels - without wheels in chassis, and the harvest, the field without water. The wire without the current, and the school without the teacher, and the field without water, and the car without a brake, at one time or another, it is bound to be dangerous. Therefore, the life spent without realizing the divinity is lifeless. That is living death.

In the human life there are great potentialities, capacities. If man determines he can accomplish anything. He can certainly achieve any great task. He has got such great potentialities. The power of truth, the power of bliss, the power of awareness present in God are equally present in man. That being so, if truth, awareness, and bliss [sat, chit, ananda] are present in every one, how is God special and significant?

Electricity. In electricity, bulbs are many, but outward they, all bulbs, look alike. But there is difference in the filament of every bulb. But there is current. There is difference in voltage

, 40, 60, 100, 500, 1000 like that. But there is only difference in the quantity. Quality is one. In every bulb there is current. That is truth, awareness, and bliss [sat, chit, ananda]. We can develop that truth, awareness, and bliss to any extent. A fraction could be developed into mighty one. A macrocosm could be brought down to a microcosm.

They all rest on the thought and effort of every man. A person has got a cigarette (Swami: Fire) fire. He can develop that cigarette fire into mighty bonfire. A grand fire may be given to a person, out of negligence it could be extinguished.

(Swami: Sraddhavan labhate jnanam

; Bhagavad Gita 4:39)

Therefore, when there is sincerity, you can accomplish any, any objective. For everything practice is essential.

(Swami:

Sreyo hi jnanam abhyasaj

Jnanad dhyanam visishyate

Dhyanat karma-pahla-tyagas

Tyagac chantir anantaram

Bhagavad Gita 12:12)

Whatever you may earn, whatever you may have, one day or another you are bound to leave them. One day or other they will leave you, or you may have to leave them. Prior to that stage, each one should be careful, lead a sacred life, and a purposeful life.

To lead a human - life of a human being, he should have that human quality. A human being is not making an attempt to love another human being. Between individuals there is hatred. There is (+: hatred) between village and village, between country and country. People speak of peace, peace, peace, - peace conferences - it is all a stunt. Holding atom bombs on hand they shout, "Peace, peace, peace." Even in spite of the fact that they reached the Moon, they don't have peace and happiness. What's the reason? He holds on hand that strong bomb. Similarly, keeping the bad qualities within us like a bomb, crying, shouting for peace -when that bomb is going to blast? However, he should be a human being first. The one, who appreciates all the wicked qualities, is a useless man.

When he has got the knowledge of the self, he is the very form of the bliss. God is not separate. He himself is divine. God is himself. We should have feelings appropriate to this. If you take it that you are a man, you are just a man. If you take it, that you are divine, you'll become divine (Swami: Brahmavid brahmaiva bhavathi. Yad bhavam - tat bhavathi). The knower of the Brahman becomes Brahman himself. As is the feeling, as is the thought - so is the reward.

Eating the mango fruit, can you have the belch of a cucumber? No! What you have eaten, you will get the same smell as you belch. What thoughts that Prahlada had? "God has come down to rescue him." That quality, with those qualities Bhagavan has come down to safeguard Kuchela. Those qualities, those qualities of Vishnu helped Druva at that time. With those qualities He also helped the poor Kuchela. Kuchela is the closest friend of Krishna. So, a true friend is God.

All the worldly people today, if you have good position, if the pocket is full of money, all are friends. "Hallo, hallo," they say. But with no money in pocket, no more position, no one will say goodbye. This is worldly friendship. The eternal friendship is really the divinity. He is always with you, around you, in you - always like an eyelid.

Kuchela unfortunately had to face so many sufferings. He has many children. He has no food also. Day and night he is grief stricken. One day the wife of Kuchela said, "Krishna is your friend. Why don't you go and ask Him! You know God is infinite, God is compassionate. He will never leave anybody. He will certainly help everyone. Why don't you go and ask, Krishna?" But Kuchela has another feeling. "Krishna is a mighty emperor. Krishna is all divinity, all divine himself now. Will, will I be permitted at the doorstep or not?" Then the wife said, "He has been your friend since childhood days. He will never forsake you, He will never leave you."

The true friend is God. Who thought like that? Wife of Kuchela. Wife stands for devotion [ bhakthi]. Husband stands for wisdom [jnana]. Wisdom is full of doubts, but the devotion will have love, more and more towards God. The wife of Kuchela thought in several ways of out devotion. But - he went ultimately.

He sent the message in. The moment message is received, Krishna came running. He took Kuchela inside. With the torn clothes, the hair not combed, with all dirty body, Kuchela is very afraid because Krishna may touch him. But Krishna has no thought for body. He doesn't take your body. He doesn't think of your dress. He notices, He will see the sanctity of your heart. He observes friendship. He has taken the ??? . He made Kuchela sit on the same throne where He sat. He asked Rukmini, the consort, to serve him. He prayed Kuchela. All the food was served on golden plates.

Krishna is fanning him. Then Krishna asked Kuchela, "Do you all remember our good childhood days? Do you think of them?" Krishna started telling all those secrets. God will never forget, but man when he is in position, he forgets everything. The moment he reaches the day after he wails. But he will never think of the childhood and the friendship. As things happened so, Kuchela was afraid to stay there such a long time. He has no second pair of dress to change.

Krishna smilingly said, "Kuchela, did you bring any gift for me?" Kuchela was fully afraid, because in a dirty, torn cloth, he brought that beaten rice which he was holding. "In this vast mansion, in this house which is shining with all gold and silver, how am I to open the bundle of, of this dirty cloth?"

Observing the position of Kuchela holding the rice, as Krishna is omniscient, He collected himself the bundle. He opened the bundle. Only handful of beaten rice. Krishna collected that beaten rice and was eating. Immediately Rukmini caught hold of the hand. How the world

would think? The world

thought, "What is Krishna's level, His position? What is Kuchela's level, what is his position? If Krishna eats that handful of beaten rice contained in the dirty cloth, what would happen?" It might have been the feeling of Rukmini for catching hold of the hand of Krishna. It is not her feeling. Her feeling is, "Krishna, I have my due share in that. You are just servant of your Devotee. I am Your servant. I am the servant of servant. A share to the servant, and a share to the servant of servant. Please give me my share!"

This vastness of divinity no one can understand. Basing ??? all these things Kuchela forgot. Kuchela came expecting some reward. He came there seeking His help. Finally he said, "Krishna, I'll go!" Krishna escorted Kuchela to the doorstep, made him sit in the chariot. Kuchela - Kuchela did not ask for anything. He did not explain the family position either.

Oh mind don't ask. Oh mind, don't ask. The more, the more and more you ask, it will be put down more and more. Without asking it will be rewarded. Sabari, who has not asked, has she not received? Without asking has He not been there at the last moment of the life of Jatayu. Made him drink the water.

Kuchela did not ask for anything. But the good, the bad and the future God alone takes care. The devotee may ask for low things. God is prepared to give - what greats things in store. Don't ask! He is going to give you much more than what you asked for. But loving Him is most essential. That love is enough.

Kuchela went in chariot. He could not recognize where his house was. There is a big mansion. All his property changed. The moment he stepped in, the children and wife were very happy. They are full of more riches with all the property. "Is it - is it a dream, or just illusion, or a miracle of Krishna? What is all this?"

Wife came running. She was wearing all jewellery. There is no dearth, shortage, of anything in the house. The wife of Kuchela knows the capacity. Only devotion can understand.

Through the teaching of devotion the wisdom also could be obtained. The wife asked, "Did Krishna talk to you?" Kuchela started shedding tears.

"Knowing my coming. He sent His message through His messengers ushering me in immediately. The moment He saw me, He simply jumped out of His throne. Smilingly He embraced me. As if He had seen me long time back He started staring at me top to toe and hugged me. Oh wife! What shall I say about His compassion! Is there anyone who would partake of this beaten rice from a poor man? Confer ???. He is love. Love is himself! There is no other difference. He is love. Love is himself. This I recognized today."

Both of them felt so happy about the love they received from Krishna. Then they said, "Friend, friend - who is the true friend? God is the real friend. There is no other friend greater than Him." God is the real friend, who will support you in grief and happiness, pleasure and pain. Relatives will come up to the doorstep, up to the burial ground. But there is only one relative, who shall not forsake you. He is the true friend. At all times He will be with you, around you, in you. Take care of you day and night.

Modern friends today, they are like the frogs who will collect in a tank, that is full of water. When the tank is dry not even a frog is there. So long you are in rich, in riches and position all are friends. But in times of difficulties no one will come. Are they friends? No! The true friend is God. The true path of devotion [bhakthi marga] is to make friendship with God.

Bhakthi, devotion, meant: that which gives sakthi, or energy. Through this sakthi, energy, that rakthi is the shining. Through this rakthi, that kind of attachment, anurakthi

. Through this anurakthi - virakthi, detachment. Through virakthi, detachment, mukthi, liberation (Swami: ... Bhakthi, rakthi, anurakthi, virakthi, mukthi). So, in all these words the bhakthi, the devotion, the rakthi, the kind of love, attachment, virakthi, the detachment, the mukthi, the liberation, the common syllable is 'kthi'.

What do you mean by 'khti'? (translator: Swami?) Merger! With whom? 'Kthi' is merger, 'Bha' God. Merger in God. The one that makes you oneness with God is bhakthi, devotion. And worship - all other things are good actions. The meditation, penance are good actions. The true devotion is to love God whole heartedly. That love we should acquire. We should recognize that love between individuals. If everyone loves, we could accomplish everything. If you have got gold on hand you can make any type of jewellery. But he is the goldsmith who make it.

Here you have got the string, the needle, and flowers. Can that be a garland? No! The gold and pearls are there, but do you expect jewellery out of it? There should be one maker. Here is a container, oil and wick. Do you get the light of the lamp? There should be someone, the one who should light the lamp. He is God. So, when that divinity is there, everything we can achieve. Therefore we should always make an effort to think of the Lord, to serve Him, to worship Him all the time.
