Embodiments of divine atma!

God is ??? - the entire Universe is the very form of God. There is air within us and outside. We cannot see nor can we hold on hand. For that reason, can we deny the presence of air? If there is no air how do you live? So, if there is no air you no longer exist. Similarly, God is all-pervasive. It is the divinity, that is installed in the sacred heart. To consider that God is

present at one spot is an incomplete feeling. He has His feet, the ears, and the eyes, and the heads all over, everywhere.

The Universe is the very form of Vishnu. So, when you look at the Universe you look at it with the universe feeling. You don't look at it with Vishnu feeling. If you look at the world with the divine feeling you will understand the true self, atma.

Here is Krishna's idol. When you keep the form of Krishna in view, you do not think of the metal with which it is made of. When you think of the metal of Krishna's Idol you don't, you cannot understand the true form. So, in the same form there are two materials. One is the form [swarupa]. Other is quality, nature [swabhava]. When you keep in view the form of Vishnu, you do not think of other aspects of the Universe. When you look at the Universe with worldly feeling, you cannot think of Vishnu, the Lord. Therefore, more or less it lies in the sanctity of the divinity in our looks.

It is the vision [drishti), that is creation [srishti]. The eye is the sacred text. When we change our vision the entire creation changes. The type of colored glasses you put on, you will see the world in the same color. Therefore, the first instance we should change our looks. If you ask the question, "Where is God?" Where the mind originates, wherever it dwells and moves about, there is God. In this world there is no place into which mind cannot get in. Therefore, the entire world is just a creation of the mind. You see the Universe, but you say that you have not seen Vishnu, the Lord. The very Universe is the very form of God. So change your feelings [bhava].

When you concentrate the feeling on your looks, there commences the grief. When you think of the Lord you will be happy [santhosha]. For pleasure or pain, our feelings are responsible. Mind is responsible for bondage and liberation. So, we should make proper use of the mind in the right direction. If the mind is in the right direction the entire nature of the mind would be directed towards divinity. If the mind goes along the narrow path it leads to selfishness. So we should make use of the mind to have broad feelings with love. (Swami: Expansion) Expansion of love. (Swami: Contraction love) But today we live in contraction of love. Selfishness and selfishness. Whatever we do, behind that there is selfishness. Whomsoever you know you may love, you don't love him for his own sake. For your own self you love the individual. You may love any object, you don't love for the object sake. For your own self, you love object. The nature of man today, he has become a toy in the hands of selfishness. He doesn't step forward without selfishness [swartha]. When we get away from the selfishness, tread along the path of divinity, we can understand the self or atma.

The relationship of father, mother, son, daughter - everything is related with these feelings only. Basing on the difference in form and vesture man is treading along this attachment. Prior to birth, who is father, who is son? Prior to marriage, who is the husband, and who is wife? They are just passing clouds. All come in between and then vanish. The permanent, eternal self, atma, is changeless. It is pure, unsullied, eternal, immortal, permanent, and pure, that is atma, the self.

At one time Suka the son of Vyasa leaving father and home went into forest. Father could not bear the pangs of separation. He started running after the son told him, "Don't leave the home. You stay with us and serve the parents." Suka replied. He told father, "Vyasa, you are not the father and I am not the son. You and I came out of the same bliss. Bliss is our abode. Every man aspires to be blissful. Without bliss no one can live for a moment. He aspires bliss, but his practice leads him towards restlessness [asanthi]. What he aspires, for that sake he should make effort. He wants the results of all good acts, but he follows the path which is just opposite. He does not want the consequences of evil acts, but he steps forward to do evil acts. Therefore, what you aspire for, you follow along the same path. Aspire for one thing, you practice differently, you say differently. This is not objective of human life.”

Human life - (Swami: The proper study of mankind is man). Swami says, “Proper study of mankind is man.” (Swami: Thoughts, words, and actions together) The unity of thoughts, words, and actions. This is true human value. After receiving the teaching from son, Vyasa returned home.

Every man is the very form of love, but he wants to transform his love in several ways. The moment he was born, he has intense love for his mother. As a child he doesn't live away from mother for a moment. He expects to spent the life on the lap of the mother. As times pass on, as food changes, as practices change, as he starts studies, gradually his love for his mother would be less, and his love towards his friend will be more. He considers his friend, a separate body, his own life. He considers his friends as his very life.

How long are they friends? Pocket - money is there in the pocket. Father's position is nice. Basing on these two, he is surrounded by hundreds of friends, who say, "Hallo, hallo!" When, when change, they don't say even, "Goodbye." So long there is water in the tank, thousands of frogs gather. When the tank is dry, not even one frog will be there. This is worldly friendship, but the friendship relating to the divinity is different. God who is the real friend will be with you at home, after you, around you, like an eyelid throughout. We should have the true friendship of the Lord.

Students do not understand the divine friendship, but they consider ephemeral friends. That doesn't mean you should hate a temporary friend. How far should you enjoy the friendship? (Swami: "Hallo, hallo. How are you? How are you? Goodbye, goodbye!") It is only within a framework: Hallo, hallo. How are you? Goodbye, goodbye. (Swami: Adwestha sarva bhutanam

You don't need to hate, hate anybody. It doesn't mean you should get involved totally. The reason is it changes moment to moment.

Completed education, he was married. After marriage his love towards his friend would be on the low ebb. Wife is the life. For her sake he struggles hard and loves her. How long does love last? The love will be intense until they beget one or two children. Even that love towards wife would decline within one or two months.

Immediately after marriage both of them go to the park to walk in the garden. Husband looked at the thorn on the way. With the fear that his wife unknowingly will step on the thorn, catching hold of her hand in all anxiety and worry he started shouting, "Thorn, thorn!" His love towards his wife is very life. As six months passed on, they were going in another direction. That day husband also noticed the thorn. He said, "There is a thorn, be careful." The first love has become weak gradually. After one year, when they were going in a different path, they saw the thorn on the way. "Are you not able to see. Come back! Don't you see thorn there."

What lot of difference is there between the first love and love of mundane. Worldly love is sure to decline. He takes the love towards his wife as ???. After one or two children, he takes children very important. Father struggles to foster the children, to educate them, to rear them. But the youth forgets that his head, blood, duddoo, head, everything is the parents gift. Forgetting that truth he considers father something different. Then comes differences between father and the son. When differences start, father will exercise control over ??? money. With this hatred will be much more. The love that starts with mother ends with money. So, this love is never permanent any time.

The divine love, moment to moment will be ever on the rise. It will never diminish. So, we should make every effort to enjoy this divine love. Man's worries are many. Because he has money doesn't mean that he has no worries. There is bound to be worries in spite of wealth. Because of the people around he doesn't mean that he has no worry. Man is bound by twelve forms of worries. (1) Birth is a worry. (2) Living on Earth is worry. (3) Family life is worry. (4) Death is worry. (5) Childhood is worry. (6) Old age is worry. (7) Life is worry. (8) Failure is worry. (9) All actions are worry. (10) (Swami: Pains) Pains, worry, difficulties worry. (11) Happiness is also worry. (12) The mystery is also worry. We live under the tree of worries and anxieties.

People at least now with all the desire ??? gone. For every disease there is a prescribed medicine. But the divine love will solve all worries. He will cure all your ills. That divinity is in everyone, but individually we view Him in different forms. The one that fills and is all-pervasive is the one divinity. When we understand the unity in diversity we can understand divinity. At home we prepare mysore pak, gulab, barfee, laddhu, jelibe ???, ???. We prepare at home variety of sweets. You prepare sweets because of the taste, but in all these sweets, sugar is one. Divinity present in everyone, is all the same. Forms and names are different. Thoughts and aberrations may be different. Aspirations may differ. But goal is one. (Swami: Unity in diversity) We should recognize unity in diversity, but not diversity in unity.

Jewels are many. They have different names. But gold is one. Similarly, (Swami: Beings are many) Beings are many, (Swami: But breath is one) but breath is one. You have one breath, and I don't have different breath. (Swami: Nations are many) Nations are many, (Swami: But Earth is one) but Earth is one. With full effort we should be able to accomplish the unity in diversity. Though the names and forms are different, the love [prema] is one.

The main sound in the human life is the word. It is only through the word you can change your mind or convert it. So, speak well, make use proper use of the words. (Swami: You do not always oblige, but, but you, you should speak always obligingly) You cannot always oblige, but you can speak obligingly. You may not have sacred feelings, sacred thoughts, but speak well. Words change the mind and melt the heart.

At one time in a gurukula, the teacher teaching the students. Teacher was teaching the vedic doctrine. Teacher taught: Recognize the divinity which is all-pervasive. Deputy inspector visited the school. He saw the school. "Why do you teach all meaningless things? No meaning whatsoever in these words." That is what he said. But teacher said, "The mystery contained in the words is nowhere else present. Everything is within the word. In the word there ???. It only ??? the kingdom. It will separate you, separate from the kingdom. Word is important." The deputy inspector said, "By this word will the mind change?" He said, "Definitely!" He said, "I am not going to believe." "If you don't believe, leave it there, but I have full faith. If you have no faith, leave it. Who are you to deny my faith? My faith is my faith. Your belief is your belief." When the teacher said so the inspector was really angry. He said, "Explain clearly and satisfy me." He said, "I will do it. Please be seated in a chair."

He made the youngest of all students to get up. He asked this youngest boy, "Ask the officer. Tell him, get out!" (Swami: Get out!) The little boy said, "Get out!" Officer was angry. "What! This little kid asked me to get out." He was full of fury and anger. Then teacher said, "Inspector, our little child has not beaten you. He only uttered one sentence, 'Get out'. Why are you so angry? So has not your mind changed? One word made you full of agitation."

So, it is a word, that can change a man. So our words should be valuable. The human life should be full of obedience and humility. Education confers humility. Out of humility, deservedness. Deservedness gives wealth. The wealth leads to righteousness [dharma]. Through that you will have prosperity here and hereafter. So humility is most important. Without that human life will never shine in society. So we should talk in all humility and obedience. The words melt the heart. It will melt the mind, and it gives you - heart opens up. So, so in human life we should know the value of the word.

That is what Chaithanya and Jayadeva said. Oh tongue, the one that knows the taste. The one that gives sweetness, how sacred you are. You know your nature, no one else. You are respect. You are sacrifice. You are courtesy, and you are idealism. Tolerance. No one else has in this body. What kind of sacrifice you have, do you know? While eating a fruit, if the fruit is good - tongue teaches a lesson on sacrifice. If the fruit is good it doesn't contain itself, it sends to the abdomen

, such that it could be shared to all the limbs of the body.

If it has no taste - "Oh mother Earth, why have you given me this tasteless fruit?"- and therefore, it will spit it back out. You know what kind of tolerance the tongue has? There are thirty-two teeth like swords, pointed. The tongue moves sensitively between the teeth. Out of negligence they are sure, all the thirty-two teeth are sure to bite it. The teeth are so strong, while the tongue is so soft. So it moves very sensitively. Oh tongue, the respect you have, no one else has. In spite of all troubles, obstacles, and anxieties you are within the mouth, but you never come out of it. Not only that, you a lot of tolerance [sahana]. You give that feeling that this is ???. You develop that feeling that all belong to me. So you still help those that harm you.

Supposing you are chewing hard nut or any preparation. Because of negligence - supposing the teeth have bitten the tongue soft. The tongue will never punish the teeth that bites it. Because teeth also belongs to me. Though teeth have harmed the tongue, the tongue will never react.

Not only this, you will make the Lord as the head of all the animals. Basing on the name of the person in front, you begin to extol the person in front what kind of noble, godly man he is. If he is wicked, and if he uses harsh words, what kind of wicked man he is. He is an animal. You accuse him like that. You call him an animal, and at the same tongue calls him divine. On what basis? It is only words. So, the words are very important.

Out of this will power (Swami: Ichcha sakthi) the one that originates is the tongue (Swami: Vaak). Then discrimination (Swami: Nirnaya sakthi) , then intelligence (Swami: Medha sakthi), (Swami: Prajnana sakthi), then awareness - all powers originate out of will power. That will power is the chief energy in man. We should keep or preserve that energy. We should not make use of this energy for silly desires. Sacrifice is needed. If there is no sacrifice, you cannot enjoy yoga.

In the daily life, when you don't sacrifice your habits, how will you sacrifice the attachments? You don't sacrifice ???, you don't sacrifice, you don't sacrifice coffee, you don't sacrifice smoke, you are not sacrificing the cards play. Knowing fully well they are bad qualities, if you don't sacrifice them, how do you expect to sacrifice the attachments? We are not able to sacrifice those that harm us.

(Swami: Na karmana na prajaya dhanena tyagenaike amritatvamanasuh)

.

In sacrifice lies Immortality. So we have to sacrifice everything. If you want to learn swimming, you should push backwards the water in front of you to move forward. Then only you can go ahead. You should not bother the water about the water that is there. You have to sacrifice everything. (Swami: Past is past) Past is past. (Swami: Forget the past) Forget the past. (Swami: It won't come back) It will never come back. It will never come back. Therefore, forget the past. You may have mountainous hopes for the future. Future is not certain. Then why do you bother about those things? (Swami: Live in the present) Live in the present. (Swami: This is not ordinary present) It is not ordinary present. (Swami: Omnipresent) It is Omnipresent. (Swami: Past results are in the present only) Past results are in the present. (Swami: Future results are in the present only) Future results are in the present.

The tree earlier will bear the seed now. The seed will become tree tomorrow. The tree of tomorrow and the seed ??? - are contained in the present seed. (Swami: Live in the present. Be happy) So live in the present and be happy. Never worry about the past and future and live in the present. (Swami: Present is very, very important) Present is very, very important. If you are happy in the present, future is also bound to be happy. What is man forgetting today? He forgets the present. He is worried about the past and future.

So worries is being added up - plus, plus. So never give scope for worry. (Swami: What is the shape of worry?) What is the shape of worry? (Swami: It is mental created fear only) It is only mental created fear. It is only mentally created imagination, that gives you worry. So be happy always. (Swami: Happiness is union with God) Happiness is union with God. (Swami: Not world) Not world. There is no happiness in the world. There is only happiness [santhosha], fractional. There is difference between bliss and happiness.

Happiness pertains to the head. Head bears responsibility. Heart is related to bliss. Heart has right. So right and responsibility, heart and head are important. So, you should follow, relate to the heart. We should not follow all the thoughts that come out of the head. This happiness is temporary, but bliss is permanent. How? You are hungry. You go to the hotel and eat two chapattis. Then you are happy. But how long this happiness lasts? (Swami: Just two hours or three hours) Just two hours or three hours. After three hours you will be hungry again. So this happiness is temporary. So it is called santhosha. What is the meaning of santhosha? San-tosha - little, (Swami: little gift) little gift. So we should not struggle for this little happiness. We should strive for permanent bliss. It will never change anytime. We should never forget this truth.

Embodiments of love. The thing that we have to recognize is spiritual path: important thing is to purify our hearts. We should develop divine love. We should spend our life keeping in view these three things: love of God, fear of sin, and (Swami: Morality) morality in society. (Swami: Love of God) When there is love of God, automatically there will be fear of sin. (Swami: Fear of sin) When there is fear of sin, then will be morality in society - so that you will be good. You will never do anything bad. When there is no fear of sin, you will be negligent. You will never live respectfully in society. Society is very important.

The birth, growth and death in life is in society. You can never be away from society for a moment. Get a good name in society, then you will have divine feelings. When you are one with the society it is a true unity. This unity will lead to purity. This purity will take you to divinity. (Swami: Unity, purity, and divinity) Therefore three steps Swami says. When there is no unity there is a scope for enmity.

Today there is no unity. There is no purity. There is no divinity. We just dance with this community. Where is community? All are one. (Swami: All are one, be alike to everyone) All are one, be alike to everyone. (Swami: There is only one caste, the caste of humanity) There is only one caste, the caste of humanity. (Swami: There is only one religion, the religion of love) There is only one religion, the religion of love. (Swami: There is only one language, the language of the heart) There is only one language, the language of the heart. That is true feeling. Keep off differences. Develop love [prema]. Develop tolerance [sahana]. Move together. Lead the life in unity.
